Kaiser Natural Sheepskin

From Kaiser of Germany, these naturally tanned sheepskins have been treated using an environmentally-friendly tanning process.

These natural lambskins have been conventionally tanned, from non-organic lambs and have been tested to be certified free of any harmful chemicals or heavy metals. No chrome is used in the tanning. Natural colour and smell are left intact.

With its natural insulation properties, sheepskin stays warm in winter and cool in summer. It's softness gives baby a sense of comfort and security, whether it's on the floor or under Baby in bed. Researchers reporting in the British Medical Journal The Lancet have found that wool has a soothing, swaddling effect on babies, resulting in better sleep, reduced stress, greater contentment and improved weight gain.

Machine washable at 30°, on a wool cycle, with wool shampoo. Line dry, flat and out of the sun. Occasional re-lanolising keeps it soft and conditions the fibres. See the Laundry Dept. for wool shampoo and lanolin.  Sheepskins retain all qualities that help a sheep survive outside in extremes of weather. They are self cleansing and shrug off any moisture, which evaporates without any smell remaining. They are refreshed just by hanging out in the fresh air. Some customers wash theirs every 3/4 weeks and others every 3/4 months. Sheepskins are perfect for breastfeeding on, as any excess milk disappears into the wool.
